Frequently Asked Questions
-
How much sleep does my dog need a day?On average an adult dog will require between 12 to 14 hours of sleep a day. A puppy or an elderly dog normally requires between 18 to 20 hours of sleep a day. This means that if your dog is constantly playing and being active during the day this could then create other behavioural issues instead because they are over tired.
-
How do we find you for Daycare and Home Boarding? Our postcode doesn't take you to our house. It always takes you a mile down the road. The easiest way is to go to google and type in Lady Pea's Dogs and then click follow directions.
-
What do peacocks have to do with Lady Pea's Dogs? Here at Lady Pea's Dogs we are based on a farm that has over 40 peacocks living in and around us. However please don't worry as the peacocks are faster than the dogs and will always fly away.
-
Where will my dog be walked? At Lady Pea's Dogs, we have just over 1/2 an acre of enclosed garden with rabbit-proof wiring and fencing around. We also have access to 2 and a half acres of enclosed space. Both spaces enable us to exercise the dogs knowing that they can have a good run but be totally safe.
-
Does my dog need an assessment to be able to attend daycare? To meet our licensing and to make sure your dog is suitable for daycare we have to always perform at least one trial day with every new dog. During this trial, we carry out an assessment to make sure your dog is suitable to be able to cope with daycare too.
-
Whats involved in the daycare assessment?During the assessment, we look at if your dog shows any signs of stress or frustration towards other dogs or humans, to make sure they are ok around small children, that they can relax and calm down around other dogs. That their play with other dogs is appropriate and that they fit in. This assessment is so important to make sure your dog is getting the best from daycare but also to make sure we aren't creating any other issues or behavioural problems later on.
-
Will my dog ever me left on their own?We always try to make sure your dogs are never left on their own during the day. But if for any reason this does have to happen they are never left for more than 3 hours.
-
What happens if my dog needs medication within your care?We are able to give your dog their medication whilst in our care, which will be recorded in a medical log for you to know when and how often they received it.

What happens during an average day at daycare?Daycare doors open from 7.30 am to 6.00 pm Monday to Friday. Between 7.30 am and 9.00 am most dogs are dropped off. First they are all given a chance to go and have a quick run around on their own in the garden to do their business before being reintroduced with the other dogs. Some dogs have their breakfast with us while others might have already had theirs. Depending on the dog they are fed where they feel comfortable. Either in a crate or on their own or even next to us. Once breakfast is completed we all take a walk in the garden where they have over1/2 an acres of enclosed garden to run about. Once all the dogs have had a good walk, sniff and play, which has all been monitored for appropriate play, they then have the option to be in the courtyard or the house having a rest or a play and chew on the toys available. During the rest of the day some dogs might do some training with myself for filming purposes to create our subscription training or for demonstration in classes or 121s. Other dogs might do some training as well if they are booked in for Daycare training. The dogs will get about 3 to 4 walks around the garden during the day as well as lost of fuss and love. Your dogs become apart of our family and have to opportunity to either be sat with me or within one of our other rooms.
